Korean Ambassador calls on DU VC

DHAKA, Sept 11, 2023 (BSS) - South Korean Ambassador to Bangladesh Park Young-sik called on Dhaka University (DU) Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Md Akhtaruzzaman today at the latter's office on the campus.

Park Young-sik was accompanied by the First Secretary of Korean Embassy Youngmin Seo, said a press release.

During the meeting, Dr Akhtaruzzaman apprised the Ambassador of brief history of Dhaka University and its academic and research activities. He said the friendly ties between Bangladesh and Korea have been prevailing for a long.
 
"Korea has contributed a lot to the overall socio-economic development of Bangladesh. This bilateral relationship will be further strengthened in the days to come," Akhtaruzzaman added.

They discussed matters of mutual interests especially the progress of ongoing pilot project titled 'Capacity Building of Universities in Bangladesh to Promote Youth Entrepreneurship' at DU with financial assistance from KOICA.

They also discussed the possibilities of further expansion of ongoing Korean Language Program at the university. The Ambassador stressed the need for promoting entrepreneurs at university level to build Smart Bangladesh and increasing language skills of students for better employment in Korea.

He assured the VC of providing all possible support and cooperation in this regard.

Dr Akhtaruzzaman thanked the Korean Ambassador for his visit to Dhaka University and showed keen interest in its academic and research activities.
