Bangladesh reports zero Covid-19 death, seven positive cases

DHAKA, Sept 12, 2023 (BSS) - Bangladesh today recorded zero Covid-19 death

while it reported seven coronavirus positive cases.

"Bangladesh reported 1.65 percent Covid-19 positive cases as 425 samples were
tested during the last 24 hours," a daily statement of the Directorate
General of Health Services (DGHS) said here.

During the period, the combined figure of coronavirus infection in Dhaka
district and the capital is six while zero Covid-19 death was reported, the
DGHS statement added.

The official tally showed that the virus killed a total of 29,477 people in
Bangladesh and infected 20,45,537 so far.

The recovery count rose to 20,13,063 after another 13 patients were
discharged from the dedicated hospitals during the last 24 hours, the
statement continued.

From the beginning of the pandemic, 98.41 percent Covid-19 patients recovered
among the infected people while 1.44 percent died, the DGHS statistics
showed.

Among the 29,477 fatalities, 12,960 occurred in Dhaka, 5,911 in Chattogram,
2,167 in Rajshahi, 3,738 in Khulna, 993 in Barishal, 1,364 in Sylhet, 1,429
in Rangpur and 914 in Mymensingh divisions.

More than 1.47 million people worldwide were infected with COVID-19 between
July 24 and August 20, a 63 percent increase over the previous 28 days and
over 2,000 people died, a 48 percent decrease over the same period, the World
Health Organization (WHO) reported.

According to the WHO report, a total of 1,470,201 coronavirus cases and 2,059
deaths were reported worldwide during the four-week period.//

Besides, COVID-19 cases were reported in 103 countries. The virus "remains a
major threat," and the WHO is urging countries to maintain the COVID-19
infrastructure that they have put in place.

The organisation expects them to continue to work on early warning,
surveillance and identification of the COVID strains.
