Light to moderate rain likely

DHAKA, Sept 18, 2023 (BSS) - Light to moderate rain or thunder showers
accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over
south and north-eastern region and at many places over central and northern
region.

"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty
wind is likely to occur at most places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal,
Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at many places over Mymensingh, Rajshahi
and Rangpur divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places
over the country", said a met office release here with country's next 24
hours forecast begins from9am today.

Country's maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 37.4 degree Celsius at
Srimangal and minimum temperature today was recorded 23.6 degree Celsius at
Bandarban. Highest rainfall for the last 24-hours till 6am today was recorded
97 millimeters (mm) at Chattogram.

Meanwhile, Mild heat wave is sweeping over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and
Sylhet divisions and the districts of Dhaka, Tangail, Faridpur, Kishoregonj,
Jashore, Chuadanga, Kushtia, Barishal, Bhola, Feni and Cumilla and it may
abate.

Day temperature may fall by (1-3) degree Celsius and night temperature may
fall slightly over the country.

The well-marked low over West Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area weakened and
merge with the monsoon axis. The axis of monsoon trough runs through
Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Bihar and West Bengal to Assam across southern
part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
