DHAKA, Sept 25, 2023 (BSS) – A senior former teacher of cadet collages Professor Humayun Kabir Chowdhury today passed away at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka. He was 90.

   “He breathed his last around 12.54pm while undergoing treatment at the CMH ICU (intensive care unit) here Dhaka,” said a family member of the deceased.

   Kabir made his debut as a teacher of Bengali language and literature at Faujdarhat Cadet College in Chattogram in early 1960s and later served as a senior teacher of Cumilla Cadet College while he retired in 1991.

   He left behind his wife, two sons, a daughter and a large number of former students who in later life served higher positions in different professions including civil and military services at home and abroad.

   Family members said Kabir was buried at family graveyard at his ancestral home in Banchharampur of Brahmanbaria district this evening after accomplishment of due religious rituals including Namaz-e-Janaza.

   His first janaza was held at Sector Five Jame Mosque Dhaka’s Uttara, where he was residing in the last years of his life.

   Family members requested all to pray for eternal peace of the departed soul.
