DHAKA, Sept 27, 2023 (BSS) - Professor Dr. Md. Golam Sharower, head of the Department of Entomology of National Institute of Preventive and Social Medicine (NIPSOM ), got the best presenter Award in the public health category.

Ecological Society of Bangladesh (ESB) organized its 1st International Conference on Ecological Challenges Assessment and Restoration on September 23 at Tula Bhaban at Farmgate in the capital, a press release said today.

Professor Dr. Aktaruzzaman, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Dhaka attended the conference as the chief guest while Professor Dr. Md Ruhul Amin, President ESB, presided over it.

At the conference, Prof Sharower made the presentation titled "Identification of various breeding sites of Aedes mosquitoes in Dhaka city".

There were three technical sessions as 56 scientific paper presentation were made alongside seven posters display.

In his presentation, Prof Sharower said identification of breeding sites of Aedes mosquitoes is very essential to determine the potential and high-risk wet containers of Aedes mosquitoes reproduction.

Highlighting different potential breeding source, he said tyres, tank and flower pots are highly potential wet containers in outdoor, indoor and rooftop.
