DHAKA, Sept, 2023 (BSS)-A team of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has arrested nine persons including Mukta ,one of the ringleaders of the human trafficking gang from south Keraniganj area, among them there are five women and four men.

The arrestees are ringleader Mukta Begum,45, Shahnaz Begum,25, Nipa Akter,20, Moni Shil,21, Laily,25, Md. Shamrat Khandokar,25, Md. Osman Gani Bepari,25, Md. Miraz,25 and Md. Siddik,40.

Acting on a tip-off, a special operational team of the RAB-10 conducted a drive at Hasnabad area of South Keraniganj police station of Dhaka district on Friday around at 9:30 pm and arrested nine persons including Mukta Begum, top of the human trafficking gang, Deputy Director RAB-10 Aminul Islam told BSS.

RAB said, Preliminary investigation revealed that the arrested people are the active members of professional women and child trafficking gang. It also admitted that the women and children of various ages were being lured to neighboring countries for the purpose of engaging in illegal prostitution and sex work.   

A case has been filed against them under the Human Trafficking Prevention and Repression Act and they were handed over to the concerned police station, said the RAB Official.
