NETRAKONA Oct 1, 2023 (BSS) - Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan today said it is the responsibility of all the judges to uphold the rule of law and the country's constitution, so it is not possible for judges to do anything avoiding the law and the constitution.
 
"The judges should work with the utmost sincerity and honesty to ensure fair justice to the justice seekers," the chief justice said while addressing as the chief guest at a civic reception accorded to him by Netrakona municipality at the local stadium here.
 
He underlined the need for concerted efforts of judges, lawyers and public representatives and reformation of the old laws to reduce the backlog of the pending cases.
 
State minister for social welfare Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru, justice of High Court Division KM Kamrul Kader, justice of high court division Mustafa Jaman Islam, Asim Kumar Ukil ,MP, Manu Mojumder ,MP, Sajjadul Hassan ,MP, Habiba Rahman Khan Shefali ,MP, Jakia Parvin Moni, MP, member of planning commission AKM Fazlul Haque, senior district judge Mohammad Shahjahan Kabir, senior district judge Mohammad Iftekhar -Bin- Aziz, vice chancellor of Sheikh Hasina university Dr. Golam Kabir, deputy commissioner Shahed parvez, police super Foyaz Ahmed , president of district Awami League Advocate Amirul Islam and former deputy minister for youth and sports Arif Khan Joy addressed the reception as special guests.
 
Chaired by mayor of Netrakona municipality Nazrul Islam Khan, the function was conducted by general secretary of Netrakona district Awami League Advocate Shamsur Rahman Liton.

The reception was followed by a colorful cultural function.
