Dr Mashiur for creating young researchers to meet global challenges

    DHAKA, Sept 3, 2021 (BSS) - Prime Minister's Economic Advisor Dr

Mashiur Rahman today said improvement in a specific field is not
possible without research and publication of international standards.

   "We need to create young researchers and international quality
writers to meet the challenges of the 21st century," he told an event
here.

   The meeting was arranged on the occasion of the journey of the
'Journal of Invasive and Clinical Cardiology' at Sonargaon Hotel, a
press release said.

   The event was presided over by the editor-in-chief of the journal
and former director of the National Institute of Cardiovascular
Disease and renowned cardiologist Dr Afzalur Rahman.

   Eminent ophthalmologist Prof Dr Syed Modasser Ali, the chairman of
Bangladesh Medical Research Council and former Health and Family
Welfare Advisor to Prime Minister, was present at the meeting as
special guest.

   Editor of the journal and cardiologist Dr Mohsin Ahmed in his
welcome address said 150 medical journals are being published
regularly in Bangladesh, but only four journals are internationally
recognised.

   Dr Ole Frobert, professor of Cardiology, Aarhus University,
Denmark; president of the Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council Dr
Mohammad Shahidullah; president of the Bangladesh Cardiac Society Prof
Dr AKM Mohibullah; associate dean for Global Affairs, Mount St.
Hospital in the United States, Dr Jagat Narula; secretary general of
Bangladesh Cardiac Society Prof Dr Abdullah Al Shafi Majumder, and
president of the Indian College of Cardiology Prof Dr Rabin
Chakraborty, among others, spoke.
