City road mishaps claim two lives

DHAKA, Oct 13, 2023 (BSS) - Two persons were killed in two separate city road accidents this morning.

The identities of the deceased are yet to be ascertained, Bachchu Miah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police outpost, told BSS.

However, the police sources guessed the age of the deceased might be within 34-36.

Kamrangirchar Police Station sub-inspector Nusrat Jahan Nupur said that a person, who might be 36-year-old, was crossing the road near Kamrangirchar Madbar Bazar Lohar Bridge around 6:45 am.

A pickup van rammed him in front of 'Suruchi' hotel in that area leaving him seriously injured, she said.

After taking him DMCH, the on-duty doctor declared him dead, she added.

The pickup van was seized after arresting the driver, she said, adding that police informed Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for proper investigation.

On the other hand, a youth was killed as a speedy train, which was going to airport road station from Kamlapur station, hit him in Tejgaon Nakhalpara Pulpar area.

The victim was rushed to the DMCH where the duty-doctors declared him dead around 9 am, police sources said.

Bachchu Miah, officer-in-charge (OC) of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) police outpost, said that the bodies have been kept in DMCH morgue for autopsy.

These two matters have been informed to the concerned police stations, he added.
