MADARIPUR, Oct 13, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League presidium member Shajahan Khan today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has tremendously developed the country with her relentless and sincere hard works.

He said, "The International Monetary Fund (IMF) in a recent report stated that the Gross domestic Product (GDP) of Bangladesh is much better than China, Indonesia and Vietnam."

Shajahan Khan made the remarks while talking to journalists after inaugurating a newly-constructed three-storied building of Madaripur Press Club. The building was constructed at a cost of Tk. 1.15 crore. 

He said currently the country's GDP is 6 percent which will increase to 7 percent in 2028, adding, "This is the statement of the IMF."

The Awami League presidium member said, "The way Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is carrying out development activities one after another is not only a role model of development, but also a golden model of development."

He also said that BNP is lobbying in various countries, including Europe and America, regarding the next national election. "Hiring lobbyists, they are trying to make the next election questionable. Today, BNP has lost that rhythm. BNP thought that they would make the upcoming elections ineffective by carrying out terrorist activities on the Election Day," he added.

Regarding Khaleda Zia's treatment, Shajahan Khan said Khaleda Zia is an elderly person, at this age people can get sick, adding, "All types of treatment will be provided in Bangladesh. And the government will take necessary measures in line with the law regarding treatment abroad."

Madaripur Zilla Parishad Chairman Munir Chowdhury, Madaripur Chamber of Commerce and Industries President Hafizur Rahman Jachchu Khan, Zilla Parishad Member Mohiuddin Khan Naeem, Madaripur Press Club President Shahjahan Khan, General Secretary Monir Hossain Bilas, among others, were present.
