KERANIGANJ, Oct 13, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid today said BNP-Jamaat alliance had made Keraniganj a town of terror and they patronized terrorism during its tenure.

The state minister was addressing a rally of Konda Union unit of Awami League workers on Ainta premises of Konda Union in South Keraniganj as the chief guest.

Nasrul Hamid said neither the BNP-Jamaat alliance nor the military dictatorship governments have made any development in Keraniganj which is very close to the capital.

He said false and fabricated cases were common in this area during the time BNP leader Amanullah Aman.

There were more than 450 false and fabricated cases against AL leaders and workers, he said, adding that there were thousands of leaders and activists who were being accused in those cases.

"We were hoping to get rid of that hostile situation," he said, adding that people got relief when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina formed the government in 2009.

"No one in Keraniganj can say that there has been any political violence, terrorism or false cases in the last 15 years. We have done everything to maintain peace and order here," he added.

The present government emphasized on practicing cultural and sports activities to build a sound environment in Keraniganj to the greater interest of the generation, he continued.

With Konda Union Awami League President Zafar Iqbal Bappi in the chair, the rally was attended, among others, by Keraniganj Upazila Parishad Chairman and Dakkhin Keraniganj Thana Awami League President Shaheen Ahmed, Dakkhin Keraniganj Thana Awami League General Secretary M E Mamun and Konda Union Parishad Chairman Saidur Rahman Chowdhury Farooq.
