CHATTOGRAM, Oct 14, 2023 (BSS) - Local Government, Rural Development (LGRD) and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam today said political leaders must be committed to the people to make the country as developed one.
He made this comment as chief guest in coordination meeting regarding development activities of Chattogram City Corporation (CCC), Chattogram Development Authority (CDA) and Local Government and Engineering Department in Chattogram held at Circuit House here on Saturday.
He said non-government organizations, stakeholders and people have to play their due role alongside government institutions in implementing the government's plan.
Speaking at the function, city Mayor Rezaul Karim Chowdhury said CCC is running many public service projects including 81 educational institutions and 56 health complexes from the revenue income.
"There is pressure on CCC to bear the cost of running such institution by own fund. CCC will be self-sufficient and can increase its service activities if the ministry supports the income-generating projects to increase its revenue," he added.
Deputy Education Minister Barrister Mohibul Hasan Chowdhury Naufel, MP, said CCC should coordinate with the ministry so that its expenditure of education and health sectors do not create any pressure.
CCC Chief Engineer Rafiqul Islam Manik highlighted the details of the development activities carried out and the ongoing project under CCC.
LGRD Secretary Muhammad Ibrahim, its Additional Secretaries DR Molay Chowdhury and Mustakim Billah Faruqi, LGED Chief Engineer Ali Akhtar Hossain, Additional Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Anwar Pasha, CCC Acting Chief Executive Officer Khaled Mahmud, CDA Chief Engineer Kazi Hasan Bin Shams, Dhaka WASA Managing Director Taskeen A Khan, WASA Managing Director Engineer A.K. M Fazlullah, Panel Mayor, Councilors and high officials of all organizations related to the development of Chattogram were present on the occasion.
