DHAKA, Oct 16, 2023 (BSS)- Information and Broadcasting Minister Dr Hasan Mahmud today said mass media can play pivotal role in building a nation.

The minister said this while addressing the first founding anniversary of the daily Kalbela at Officers’ Club here this evening.

Terming the mass media as the fourth pillar of a state, Dr Hasan said it is the ethical responsibility of the mass media to focus on the real scenario of achievements, development and progress along with mistakes of the government.

Congratulating the daily, he said the daily Kalbela has earned popularity among the readers within a short time.

"I hope the daily Kalbela will sustain for more hundred years. And the newspaper will work to build our nation alongside being the mirror of the society," said Hasan, also Awami League joint general secretary.

He hoped that the daily Kalbela and other mass media would criticise the wrongs and mistakes of the officeholders and highlight the development and progress of the country.

He also hoped that the newspaper will play a role to carry forward the ongoing development of the country under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

Editor Abed Khan, executive editor Santosh Sharma and publisher Nazrul Islam, among others, were present.
