PANCHAGARH, October, 19, 2023(BSS)-Railways Minister Md Nurul Islam Sujon has said that the communication is the precondition for the development of the country.

 
“Development is not possible without communication. Communication is very important for the development of the country,” he said while addressing a gathering after laying foundation stone of a Y-Bridge at Aouliar ghat under Boda upazila of the district on Wednesday afternoon as chief guest.

Nurul Islam Sujon said the present government has given more emphasis on the development of communication. During last 14 years, the government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has done tremendous development in the communication sector across the country.

The minister said that the inhabitants of Boda upazila had a long expectation for a bridge on Karatoa River. The dream of peoples has come into reality through the foundation laying programme of the bridge.

The minister mentioned that on September 25 last year 72 people died in a boat capsize at the ghat.

He expressed his hope and said that the construction work of the bridge would be completed within one and half years. After completing the construction of the bridge, communication will be easier from various directions to Boda upazila, the minister added.

Local Government Engineering Department (LGED) will implement the 891-miter long PC Gurder Y-bridge construction work at a cost of Taka 116 corer .

The meeting was addressed, among others, by Boda upazila chairman Faruk Alam Tobi, Upazila Awami League president Advocate Ohahiduzzaman Suja, Mayor of Boda Municipality Azaher Ali, central Jubo league member Barrister Koushik Nahian Navid with Mahmud Zaman, executive engineer of the LGED of Panchagarh, in the chair.
