NETRAKONA, Oct 19, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for Social Welfare Ashraf Ali Khan Khasru today said the incumbent government is strongly committed to maintain communal harmony in the country so that all the people irrespective of casts, creeds and religions can perform their respective religious rituals independently.
"The incumbent government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is pledged to maintain communal harmony in the country so that all the people irrespective of casts, creeds and religions can live together peacefully side by side with conducting their respective religious rituals freely," he said while exchanging views with leaders of district Puja Udjapan committee and local Puja Udjapan committees of Barhatta upazila and Netrakona sader upazila at local public hall here.
The state minister said Bangladesh has already become a 'glaring example' of communal harmony in the world during the regime of the present Awami League government.
The views exchange meeting were addressed, among others, by chairman of Netrakona Zilla parishad Asit Kumar Sarker Sazal, chairman of Barhatta upazila parishad Mainul Haque Kashem, president of district Puja Udjapan Parishad Ganesh Chandra Sarker, public prosecutor (PP) of the district Advocate Iftekhar Uddin Masud, publicity secretary of Netrakona district Awami League Monuwar Jahan Sujan, president of Netrakona district Chatra League Robiul Awal Shawon.
Later, the state minister distributed cheques amounting to Taka 18 lakh to the Puja committee leaders of 176 Puja mondaps of Netrakona sader and Barhatta upazilas from his own fund.
