DHAKA, Oct 19, 2023(BSS) - Director General of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Major General AKM Nazmul Hasan today urged every member of the BGB to work with highest professionalism, as a 'guardian of the border'.

He made the remarks in his speech as the chief of 'BGB Firing Competition-2023', held at the small arms firing range of Cumilla sector today, said a release here.

"Border Guard Bangladesh has a great history, and is a smart force. The force are constantly deployed on the border to ensure country's first line of defence," he said.

Urging the BGB soldiers to enhance their efficiency through trainings, he said, "Every soldier of BGB needs to master the weapons to secure the border and win the victory by destroying the enemy in the battlefield."

"Shooting competition is the most important of all competitions to acquire skills through training. And in any competition there will be winners and losers, so it is important to accept that and participate with a competitive spirit," he said.

The BGB director general called upon the border guards to combine patriotism and professionalism in fulfilling their duties.

He also congratulated all the BGB members who participated in the firing competition, and expressed his sincere thanks and gratitude to all concerned for the fair and successful completion of the competition.

The BGB firing competition started on October 17 under the overall supervision of Sarail region of BGB and under the management of Cumilla sector.

A total of 72 contestants from 6 teams from 5 regions of BGB and one individual sector participated in the competition.
