CHATTOGRAM, Oct 21, 2023 (BSS) - Information and Broadcasting Minister and Awami League Joint General Secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud today said peace won’t exist in the country if the people those who divide the society communally come to the state power.
“The people of the country are now living peacefully under the Awami League government. The countrymen would never be in peace if the people, those who spread the poison of communalism before the elections, come to the state power,” he said while visiting Shantiniketan Sarbajanin Durga Puja Mandap in Ranguniya upazila of the district.
The minister said BNP had carried out repression on Hindu community in 2001 as they were elected to run the state. They spread the poison of communalism, he added.
Dr Hasan said the party leaders remained silent when the innocent Palestinians and children are being killed like birds. They can do everything to go to power, he said, adding everyone should remain alert about them.
The information minister said the government has ensured proper security for the people as they can live peacefully. The number of puja mandaps has been increasing every year, he added.
Hasan Mahmud said, “This is our country. The country had achieved independence through the blood of all people irrespective of their castes, creeds and religions under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman”.
Later, the minister visited different puja mandaps of the upazila and exchanged greetings with the people of Hindu community.
Ranguniya upazila parishad chairman Swajan Kumar Talukder, municipality mayor Md Shahjahan Sikder, AL North district unit leaders Akther Hossain Khan, Abdur Rahim, Jashim Uddin Talukder, Jubo League leader Samsuddoha Sikder Arzu and Swechchhasebak leader Nasir Uddin Riaz, among others, were present there.
