BMD asks Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra ports to keep hoisted cautionary signal no. 1


 
DHAKA, Oct 22, 2023 (BSS) - Maritime ports of Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal no. 1 due to depression formed over West central Bay and adjoining area.
 
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44km of the depression centre is about 40km rising to 50km in gust/squalls and sea will remain moderate near the depression centre, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in a special weather bulletin today.
 
BMD said the depression over West central Bay and adjoining area moved Northwestwards and now lies over the same area and was centred at noon today about 1025km West-Southwest of Chattogram port, 975km West-Southwest of Cox's Bazar port, 910km Southwest of Mongla port and 905km Southwest of Payra port.
 
It is likely to move Northwestwards and intensify further.
 
All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay and deep sea have been advised to remain close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
