RANGPUR, Oct 22, 2023 (BSS) - Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr. Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today called upon the Sanaton community to celebrate their greatest religious festival of Durga Puja with impulsive participation across the country.
 
"Like every year, the Sharodiya Durga Puja has brought enormous joy to the Sanaton community," she said, adding that the festival will be celebrated across the country with the spontaneous participation of people belonging to the Sanaton community.

The Speaker said this while virtually addressing a function arranged for distribution of cash assistance and rice among Puja mandap authorities marking the Durga Puja by Pirganj upazila parishad at its auditorium in the district as the chief guest.
 
Pirganj Upazila Awami League General Secretary and Pirganj Municipality Mayor ASM Tazimul Islam Shamim presided over the function.
 
Pirganj Upazila Parishad Chairman Noor Mohammad Mondal, its Vice-chairman Raushan Ara Alam Rina, Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mobasswer Hasan and Vice-president of Pirganj Upazila Awami League Shahidul Islam Pintu, among others, addressed the programme.
 
Dr. Shirin said the Sharodiya Durga Puja festival is being celebrated with huge enthusiasm and festivity at 104 Puja mandaps in Pirganj upazila of Rangpur.
 
She also assured of extending all kinds of cooperation to celebrate the Puja in a fair, joyous and festive atmosphere.
 
Later, the Speaker distributed cash assistance to the Mandap authorities from her personal funds and distributed general relief rice on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
 
Union level Awami League Presidents and General Secretaries and Ward level leaders and activists of the party and its associate bodies and Sanaton community leaders from all unions of the upazila were present.
