DHAKA, Oct 24, 2023 (BSS) - Former High Court judge and Bangladesh Law
Commission chairman Md Abdur Rashid died on Tuesday morning.

He breathed his last while undergoing treatment at United Hospital in Dhaka
at about 8:45am today. Abdun Nur Dulal secretary of Bangladesh Supreme Court
Bar Association confirmed BSS.

Justice Mohammad Rashid was admitted to the hospital after he fell sick on
Monday night.

His body will be kept at the mortuary of the United Hospital Limited until
his daughter returns to Bangladesh from the United States.

The government appointed Rashid as the chairman of the Commission for three
years on April 20, 2009 after he retired as High Court judge.

Law Minister Anisul Huq and Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan expressed profound
shock and sorrow at the death of Rashid.

In a condolence message, they prayed for the eternal peace of the departed
soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
