Next polls to be held following constitution: Amu


 
DHAKA, Oct 24, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member and spokesperson of the 14-party alliance Amir Hossain Amu today said the upcoming general election will be held as per the country's constitution within the stipulated time.
 
"The next general election won't be held as per the wish of foreign and domestic powers," he told a meeting with 14-party leaders at his residence in the city's Eskaton.
 
Amu, veteran leader of AL, said the upcoming general election will be held as per the wish of the countrymen, not the foreigners.
 
"AL leaders, activists and 14-party alliance will resist any kind of conspiracy centering the next general polls," he added.
 
The fourteen-party alliance will hold a discussion in the city on October 30 as the coalition will participate in the next general election.
 
"The democratic trend is continuing in the country, and we want to uphold stability," he said.
 
Strongly protesting and condemning genocide taking place in Palestine, he urged the United Nations to take measures to stop the massacre.
 
Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman Anwar Hossain Manju, Secretary General Sheikh Shahidul Islam, Workers Party President Rashed Khan Menon, General Secretary Fazle Hossain Badsha, Jashad President Hasanul Haq Inu, Tarikat Federation Chairman Syed Najibul Bashar Maizbhandari, Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif and Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan, among others, were present in the meeting.
