DHAKA, Oct 25, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) Advisory Council Member and 14-party alliance spokesperson Amir Hossain Amu today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of former communications minister and AL's former lawmaker of Madaripur-3 constituency Syed Abul Hossain.
In a condolence message, he prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Amu said the death of the veteran politician cast a pall of gloom on the politics, a press release said.
Abul Hossain, also valiant freedom fighter, breathed his last while undergoing treatment at the United Hospital in the city early today at the age of 72.
He left behind wife, two daughters and a host of relatives and admirers to mourn his death.
Abul Hossain was elected Member of Parliament from Madaripur-3 Constituency for Bangladesh Awami League in 1991. Later, he was also elected lawmaker for three more times.
He served as communications minister (now the Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges) from 2009-2012 during the Awami League government.
