Next polls to be a battle of Smart versus backward Bangladesh: Jabbar

 DHAKA, Oct 27, 2023 (BSS) - Post and Telecommunications Minister Mustafa 
Jabbar said that the next general election will be a battle between 
developments of Smart Bangladesh Versus power of backward Bangladesh.

 "This is a fight between pro-liberation forces and anti-liberation forces," 
he said while addressing a discussion at Engineers Institution seminar room 
yesterday.

 Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee organized the discussion titled 
"Movement of spirit of Liberation War: Peaceful and fair elections: 
Expectations of the Government and Political Parties' with its president 
Shahriar Kabir in the chair.

The minister said the government has implemented massive development 
programmes of building Digital Bangladesh in 2021, he said.
 
"We have started the journey to implement Smart Bangladesh. There is no 
alternative to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's leadership for building a 
prosperous Bangladesh," he added.

Among others, President of Bangladesh Workers Party Rashed Khan Menon, MP, 
Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (Jasod) President Hasanul Haque Inu, MP, human rights 
leader Aroma Dutta, president of medical support committee of Ekattorer 
Ghatak Dalal Nirmul Committee, Professor Dr Uttam Kumar Barua and Barrister 
Tapas Kanti Ball, Prosecutor of the International Criminal Tribunal, 
Bangladesh spoke.

Asif Munir, president of the IT cell of Ekattorer Ghatak Dalal Nirmul 
Committee moderated the discussion meeting.

The minister said the spirit of liberation war was stalled till 1996 through 
killing Bangabandhu in 1975. During that time, Bangladesh became a backward 
country. In such situation, Bangabandhu's daughter Sheikh Hasina had taken 
different programme to complete unfinished tasks of Bangabandhu through 
building a Sonar Bangla, he said. 
 
"She led Bangladesh forward by overcoming all backwardness of the past. But 
in 2001, that progress was stalled again and from 2006 to 2008, Bangladesh 
passed a terrible period. We must be vigilant so that terrible time does not 
come again to Bangladesh," he added.
