SINGAPORE, Oct 27, 2023 (BSS) - Singaporean President Tharman Shanmugaratnam
has greeted his Bangladeshi counterpart Mohammed Shahabuddin, who underwent
cardiac bypass surgery in Singapore National University Hospital here.
In a letter sent to President Shahabuddin, Tharman wished for his (Bangladesh
President) speedy recovery.
Singaporean President also sent a basket of flowers and fruits to Bangladesh
President as a greeting gift.
"The President is now doing his official activities staying at the hotel . .
. President is now walking and doing normal activities as per doctors'
advice," President's Press Secretary Md Joynal Abedin told BSS this
afternoon.
Meanwhile, a medical board consisting of expert doctors will sit in the
hospital on October 30 to review the overall situation.
After the overall review, the decision of his return to Bangladesh will be
finalized, he added.
On October 18, the President's bypass surgery was successfully completed at
the National University Hospital of Singapore under the supervision of noted
cardiac surgeon Professor Dr Kofidis Theodoros.
A day after the surgery, he was kept under the intensive care of doctors in
the intensive care unit (ICU) and shifted to hospital's cabin.
On October 16, President Shahabuddin left Dhaka for Singapore for better
treatment.
President's wife Dr Rebecca Sultana and officials concerned are with the Head
of the State in the overseas treatment.
