Journalist Rafiq Bhuiyan dies of brain-hemorrhage

DHAKA, Oct 29, 2023 (BSS) - Rafiq Bhuiyan, permanent Member of the Jatiya
Press Club (JPC) and Editor of the weekly 'Notun Kagoj', died of brain-
hemorrhage while undergoing treatment at National Institute of Neurosciences
and Hospital here in the early hours of today.

He was 73.

According to a press release of JPC, Rafiq Bhuiyan received head-injuries
after falling from the rickshaw on his way to the Jatiya Press Club from his
residence yesterday.

Immediately, he was taken to the Islami Bank Hospital in city's Kakrail area.
As his health condition deteriorated, he was shifted to Neurosciences and
Hospital at Agargaon area in the capital.

He succumbed to his injuries there around 12.30 am, the release added.

Born in 1951 at Daganbhuiyan upazila of Feni district, Rafiq Bhuiyan is
survived by four sons, two daughters and a host of relatives and admires.

Jatiya Press Club president Farida Yasmin and its general secretary Shyamal
Dutta today expressed profound shock and sorrow at the death of journalist
Rafiq Bhuiyan.

In a message of condolence, they prayed for the eternal peace of the departed
soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
