Concerted efforts to prevent dengue spreading stressed

RAJSHAHI, Oct 30, 2023 (BSS)- Concerted efforts of all the government, non-

government and volunteer organisations concerned can be the crucial means of
preventing more spread of dengue as it has been mounting continuously for the
last couple of months.

Utmost emphasis should be given on community engagement along with generating
awareness among the public in general to get desired yield in this regard as
there is no more scope of negligence.

Health experts and other stakeholders made the observation while addressing a
divisional coordination meeting related to dengue prevention and awareness
here today.

The District Information Office and the Office of the Divisional Director of
Health jointly organised the meeting at the latter's conference hall
supported by UNICEF.

Divisional Director of Health Dr Anwarul Kabir and Deputy Director Dr Habibur
Rahman addressed the meeting as the chief and special guests respectively
with Director of District Information Office Farhad Hossain in the chair.

Regional Director of Bangladesh Betar Hassan Akhter, Civil Surgeon Dr Abu
Sayeed Muhammad Faruque, Chief Health Officer of Rajshahi City Corporation Dr
Anjuman Ara Begum, Deputy Principal Information Officer Towhidul Islam,
Editor of the Daily Sonali Sangbad Liakat Ali and Editor of Daily Sonar Desh
Akbarul Hassan Millat also spoke.

Deputy Director of Local Government Ashraful Islam, Dr Rosyara Khatun from
the Director of Health Office and Monzur Ahmed from UNICEF presented three
separate keynote papers disseminating their expertise on the issue.

In his remarks, Dr Anwarul Kabir said they are conducting various programmes
of creating awareness among the people on how to stop the spread of dengue.
 
He said prevention and mitigation of dengue can be possible with engagement
of all quarters and creating mass-awareness that has become crucial to attain
the cherished goal.

Giving direction to the district level officers and others concerned Dr Kabir
said there is no way but to prevent the breeding of mosquitoes and generate
mass-awareness to resist dengue spread.
 
He asked them to expedite their activities more to attain the cherished goal.
