DHAKA, Oct 30, 2023 (BSS) – The ruling Awami League nominated its central organizing secretary Afjal Hossain for vying by-polls to Patuakhali-1 (Sadar, Mirzaganj and Dumki upazila) constituency.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the party’s parliamentary nomination board at the Prime Minister’s office at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban here, said a press release of AL.

Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina chaired the meeting.

The constituency fell vacant as its lawmaker and former state minister Shahjahan Mia passed away on October 21 last.

According to election schedule, the by-polls will be held on November 26.
