People to vote against terrorism in next polls: Shahid tells in JS

SANGSAD BHABAN, Oct 30, 2023 (BSS) - Former Jatiya Sangsad Chief Whip Abdus
Shahid today said people will give their vote against terrorism in the next
parliamentary elections.

"The tenure of the 11th parliament will expire this year...the elections will
be held on December or January 2024...We believe that the people of the
country will never vote for anti-liberation forces in the next elections," he
said.

Former Chief Whip Abdus Shahid also a lawmaker of Moulvibazar-4 constituency
made this comment in point of order at the outset of the session at the
Jatiya Sangsad here under the rules of procedure of the Jatiya Sangsad with
Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury in the chair.

Regarding the Palestine issue, the ruling party lawmaker said "Palestine
issue has been discussed in the general debate at the Inter-Parliamentary
Union conference."

People will never give mandate on behalf of terrorism, but they will give
mandate on behalf of the development, he said."People will give mandate on
behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," the lawmaker told the parliament.

Sharply criticizing the role of BNP, the ruling party leader said "BNP has
committed atrocities, torched vehicles and killed the member of police forces
in the name of Hartal which is not at all accepted.

"They [BNP] have brutally killed the people through burning, setting fire to
vehicles and killed a police personnel while the member of the police forces
have a responsibility to ensure the security of the people as per article
37,38 and 39 of the constituency", he added.
