DHAKA, Nov 1, 2023 (BSS) - Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road,
Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader today greeted heartiest
congratulations to Saima Wazed for being nominated as World Health
Organisation's (WHO) new regional director for South East Asia (SEARO) for a
five-year term.

Obaidul Quader said Saima Wazed, granddaughter of Father of the Nation
Bangabandhu Shiekh Mujibur Rahman and daughter of Prime Minister Sheikh
Hasina, is known for her global campaign on mental health with extra focus on
autism. Saima Wazed's nomination as World Health Organisation's (WHO) new
regional director is a "milestone achievement" as she is the first
Bangladeshi who is set to assume the position, the release added.

He said AL believes that Saima Wazed's passion and relentless work in public
health, her foresighted leadership will add a momentum to the activities of
WHO's (SEARO).
