DHAKA, Nov 2, 2023 (BSS) - A Dhaka court today gave imprisonment of different terms to 10 BNP-Jamaat men in a case lodged over vandalizing and hurling petrol-bomb on a police van in 2013.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Sheikh Sadi passed the order and issued arrest warrant as convicts remain fugitive, BNP lawyer Mohi Uddin Chowdhury said.

Accused Makbul Hossain Tipu alias commissioner Tipu, Abdul Qader, Rafiqul Islam alias Moyna and Omar Nabi alias Babu were awarded two and half years jail term each along with fining Taka 2000.

Jaber Hossain, Saiful Islam, Md Saleh, Mahmud Hossain alias Robin, Md Litton and Mahbubur Rahman got six month rigorous imprisonment and two and half years imprisonment.

On December 9 in 2013, driver of the police van Hemanta Kumar Roy lodged a case as plaintiff against unidentified 12-13 workers of BNP-Jamaat and Shibir for vandalizing and torching the van on the same day.
