DHAKA, Nov 6, 2023 (BSS) - Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury today said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has emerged as a role model for carrying out comprehensive development activities successfully across the country.
"Whenever Sheikh Hasina forms the government, the people get their desired services. Therefore, Sheikh Hasina has been appeared as ultimate shelter of hope for the people," she said.
The Speaker made the remarks at a street rally at Sadar union of Pirganj upazila in her parliamentary constituency, said a press release.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has reached electricity to every house across the country through a radical change in the power sector, Dr Shirin said, adding that one crore student are now getting support for education while the roads and transports system witnessed an extensive improvement.
The premier has brought the country's poor people under various allowances, including widow, old age, husband-abandoned and pregnant and lactating mother allowances, the Speaker said.
Noting that there is no alternative to education to change women's fates, she said it should be ensured that no one of the girls gets married until she becomes 18-years old.
Later, Dr Shirin addressed a street rally at 4 no ward of Pirganj Sadar union at Hilli Private Primary School ground and projected different development activities of the government, including setting up of Sheikh Kamal IT Training Centre in Pirganj that is helping youth to earn foreign currencies through freelancing.
The Speaker said at the direction of the Prime Minister, massive development has taken place in Pirganj like elsewhere in the country and called upon the people to vote for the 'boat symbol' in the next parliament elections.
Then Dr Shirin joined a 'Mother rally' at Tularampur Government Primary School and said different programmes have been taken for betterment of women of Pirganj.
At the event, she distributed cheques for financial assistance received from the National Social Welfare Council for patients, loan cheques under the Impact Project of the Youth Development Department, free fertilizers and seeds among the farmers under the Agricultural Incentive Programme, and bicycles, sewing machines, spray machines and wheelchairs among the beneficiaries of Pirganj paurasabha.
Later, the JS speaker joined a view-exchange meeting with teachers from all colleges in Pirganj, marking the National Education Week 2023 and distributed prizes. Piraganj upazila and ministration and the upazila education office organized the event.
Rangpur Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Mobasswer Hasan, Superintendent of Police Md Ferdous Ali Chowdhury, Pirganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Iqbal Hasan and Pirganj upazila Awami League's acting President Professor Nurul Amin Reza were present on the occasions, among others.
