People's Engineering Day tomorrow

DHAKA, Nov 7, 2023 (BSS) - The 53rd founding anniversary of Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) and the People's Engineering Day-2023 will be celebrated tomorrow.

This year's theme of the day is 'Unnoyoner Jonno Udvabon O Uddokta Niti'.

In separate messages, President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina extended greetings and congratulations to all members of IDEB and all others concerned on the eve of the day.

In his message, President Shahabuddin said under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the government is taking and implementing multifaceted plans to build a developed and prosperous Smart Bangladesh by 2041.

He said that there is no alternative to developing the innovative power of the nation side by side developing the working population as entrepreneurs in implementing this huge work plan of the government.
He said developing the skills of the youth and nurturing them as entrepreneurs is a prerequisite for achieving the economic growth of the country.

The head of the state said the youths should be trained in business principles and procedures to become entrepreneurs.

The effective role of all public and private stakeholders should be ensured in the creation of innovation and entrepreneurship friendly environment in the country, development of employment sectors and formation of necessary public opinion, he continued.

"We expect that the engineers of IDEB will contribute effectively to the development activities of the country in addition to contributing to the development activities of the country as skilled human resources embodying the ideals of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the Great War of Liberation," the president said.

In her message, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said developing and harnessing the innovative power of citizens is crucial for sustainable national development.

"Through research in all fields, we have to inform the world of our intellectual skills," she said, adding that the Awami League (AL)-led government is implementing the 'Bangabandhu Fellowship on Science and ICT' project to produce more scientists, technicians and researchers in the country.

"We must move with the time and do all the work. Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman established the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) in 1973 to accelerate the progress of science and technology," the premier said.

The AL-led government is determined to build a technology and knowledge-based, hunger and poverty-free developed country through the best use of science and technology following the path of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman's dream.

Both the President and the Prime Minister wished a success of all the programmes of the People's Engineering Day-2023.
