NATORE, Nov 10, 2023 (BSS) - State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak today
said that the media is getting the benefits of digital Bangladesh.
"News media is now enriched with high speed internet connection and
Bangabandhu satellite. Thus, it is reaping benefits of Digital Bangladesh,"
he said.
The state minister said these addressing a function held at Singra Upazila
Auditorium of the district as the chief guest on the occasion of the fifth
foundation anniversary of Singra Model Press Club.
Now everyone has mobile phones, Palak said, adding that they have Facebook
pages and YouTube channels.
Any freelancer can create content and earn money using it, he continued.
Already, Information and Communication Technology Division has provided
training to 1,800 freelancers, he said.
As a result of launching Bangabandhu satellite, foreign currency is being
saved in the country's media broadcasting side by side ensuring security of
country's information and data, he said, adding that thus, the image of
Bangladesh is shining outside the country.
Palak also said that due to the formation of Digital Bangladesh, the media
has gained momentum.
"Now any news is spreading instantly to any part of the world. There are
currently 33 government licensed television channels operating in the
country. A robot as a newsreader is reading the news on Channel 24," he
mentioned.
He underscored the need for having idea of information and communication
technology as journalism will become more challenging in the future.
"Therefore, there is no substitute for skill-gaining. In the future, the
Information and Communication Technology Division has planned to organize
training and workshops for journalists across the country," he said.
In these events, media workers will be able to acquire skills in cyber
security, digital content creation, digital literacy, social media management
and freelancing, he hoped.

A colorful procession brought out marking the foundation anniversary which
paraded different streets.
