DHAKA, Nov 10, 2023 (BSS) -Food Minister Sadhan Chandra Majumder today said 
that Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has made shelter for the helpless people so 
that they can survive in the country with honor. 

"Through introduction of various allowances in the social safety net program, 
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has honored the needy people of the country."

The minister said these while exchanging views with the beneficiaries of the 
social safety net programmes on Birjowan Government Primary School premises 
in Niamatpur Upazila of Naogaon, an official release said.
 
The food minister said it is sad, but true that many people have been 
dishonored in their family and in the society before being included in the 
social security net program. 

"Now some get old-age allowances, some widow allowance whereas some get 
housing as shelter (Asrayan Ghar)," he said. 

These people are now very happy to have a place to live in and being able to 
buy medicine for themselves, he said.

Sadhan said that democracy was destroyed with the killing of Father of the 
Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

Referring to BNP as an enemy of democracy, he also said that Bangabandhu was 
killed by the founder of BNP.

The word democracy does not suit them (BNP men), he said, adding that there 
was a yes or no vote during Zia's tenure and they rigged all the votes.

President of Paril Union Awami League Syed Mujib Genda presided over the 
event. Niamatpur Upazila Parishad Chairman Farid Ahmed and Niamatpur Upazila 
Awami League President Alhaj Abul Kalam Azad spoke on the occasion.
