KHULNA, Nov 11, 2023 (BSS) - Khulna is ready to welcome Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday for her first public rally in the district after over four-and-a-half years.
Her last visit to Khulna was on March 3 in 2018.
The premier is scheduled to address a mammoth public rally to be held at Khulna Circuit House Ground ahead of the 12th national election.
During the visit, she will inaugurate 24 development schemes and lay foundation stones of five others including 10 school and college.
The premier is likely to hold a view-exchange meeting with government officials of Khulna division, said additional deputy commissioner (General) Pulak Kumar Mondal today.
Enthusiasm and festivity has been seen among the local leaders and activists of Awami League and its front and associate bodies.
The entire Khulna has been decorated with banners, festoons, billboards and posters with photos of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his daughter Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
As part of the preparation on arrival of the Prime Minister, the Khulna District and Metropolitan Awami League held several preparatory meetings.
Khulna city unit AL president and City Mayor Talukder Abdul Khaleque said that people from all strata are eagerly waiting to welcome their fortune makers Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on November 13.
He hoped that they will gather over one million people in the grand rally.
Deputy Commissioner of Khulna Khondokar Yasir Arefin told BSS that they have taken necessary measures ahead of the Prime Minister's visit to Khulna.
"Adequate security measures have been taken to this end," he said.
The grand rally will be successful one and the people of Khulna will be pleased as the premier is set to inaugurate 24 development schemes and lay foundation stone of five others, he added.
