DHAKA, Nov 11, 2023 (BSS) - President Mohammed Shahabuddin and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today greeted all who were involved in the implementation of the country's largest Ghorashal-Polash Urea Fertiliser Factory Project as it will be inaugurated tomorrow.
On the eve of the opening day of the factory, they also greeted the countrymen issuing separate messages.
In his message, the President said:"I am happy to know that the country's largest Ghorashal Polash Urea Fertilizer Factory, implemented by Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) under the Industries Ministry, is being auspiciously inaugurated."
The head of the state said that the greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman emphasized on building indigenous raw material-dependent industries.
The president hoped that the commercial production of Ghorashal Fertilizer Factory capable of producing 9 lakh 24 thousand metric tons of granular urea annually will reduce the import-dependence of fertilizers and will play an important role in the development of the agricultural sector.
"Besides, I believe the factory will also contribute to job creation and economic growth," he added.
"I would like to thank the friendly-governments of Japan and China for providing financial and technical supports for the construction of this eco-friendly and state-of-the-art factory," he continued.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, in her message, said, "I am very happy to know that Ghorashal Polash Urea Fertilizer Factory is going to be inaugurated at Ghorashal in Narsingdi district."
The premier extended her best wishes and congratulations to all concerned.
Lauding the greatest Bangalee of all time, Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, for his enormous contribution to the country's development, she said after the country's independence, Bangabandhu took various steps to advance the country on the path of sustainable and balanced economic development by accelerating the process of labor intensive industrialization at the grass root level.
The Father of the Nation transformed Bangladesh into a least developed country in just three and a half years, she added.
The Awami League (AL)-led government is working relentlessly in the effective development of the industrial sector across the country following the footsteps of the father of the nation, she said.
"We have formulated National Industrial Policy 2022 with special emphasis on environment friendly and planned industrialization," said Sheikh Hasina.
In 2014, the government took the initiative to set up a high-capacity, state-of-the-art, energy-efficient and environment-friendly new fertilizer factory 'Ghorashal Polash Urea Fertilizer Factory' in the place of two old urea fertilizer factories at Ghorashal and Polash, she said.
The premier hoped that the fertilizer to be produced by the Ghorashal Polash Urea Fertilizer Factory will meet the domestic fertilizer demand, generate employment and contribute significantly to the country's economy by saving foreign exchange.
"I am grateful to the governments of Japan and China for providing financial and technical support for the construction of this granular fertilizer factory with an annual production capacity of nine lakh 24 thousand metric tons," she continued.
She hoped that Ghorashal Polash Urea Fertilizer Factory will play an important role in building a developed and prosperous Smart Bangladesh by 2041 by continuing this trend of industrialization.
Both the president and the premier wished continued success of the Ghorashal-Polash Urea Fertiliser Factory.
