RAJSHAHI, Nov 14, 2023 (BSS) - Japanese Ambassador to Bangladesh Wama Kiminori called on Mayor of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) AHM Khairuzzaman Liton at the latter's office here today.

They talked about various things, particularly development of the Rajshahi city.

Japanese envoy Wama Kiminori said their journey with Rajshahi begins today. He expressed his hope that they will work together on various issues.

Mayor Liton said Bangabandhu visited Japan in October 1973 and received an enthusiastic welcome from the Japanese people amidst the wave of the two countries' flags, which have a brotherly resemblance.

Seeing Japan's post-war reconstruction, Bangabandhu thought of the recovery and development of Bangladesh. His successful visit paved the way for the subsequent excellent cooperation.

AHM Khairuzzaman Liton, who is also presidium member of Bangladesh Awami League, said they have formulated a plan for building Smart Rajshahi and that has also been handed over to the Japanese Ambassador. He hoped that the plans will be implemented in phases.
