Mannan for reelecting AL in next election

SUNAMGANJ, Nov 16, 2023 (BSS) - Planning Minister MA Mannan here today urged the countrymen, especially the people of Sunamganj, to reelect Awami League in the next general election for the sake of the country's interest.

"We, the people of Haor region, want peace and we don't want arson and vandalism. We need more roads, bridges, schools and colleges, markets and hospitals and above all the overall development. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has special focus on us. So, we'll have to take the right decision and thus reelect Awami League and Sheikh Hasina in the next polls for the sake of our interest," he said.

The Planning Minister said this while addressing a discussion marking the inaugurations of newly-constructed buildings of Eralia Bazar High School, Keshobpur High School, Sajeda Khanam Girls High School, Abdus Sobhan High School and Sikka Government Primary High School. The inauguration ceremony was held at Jagannathpur upazila in this district this afternoon.

Referring to the rejection of polls schedule by the BNP, Mannan alleged that BNP had earlier hinted that they would reject the election schedule as they want to grab power illegally through ousting the government.

"It doesn't matter from where various letters are coming. But, the main fact is that we'll abide by our constitution and the election will surely be held according to law," he added.

Asserting that the 12th Jatiya Sangsad election will be held in the soil of Bangladesh as per law, the Planning Minister alleged that a party wants to create anarchy in the country through not participating in the electoral process.

Noting that the US and the UK are Bangladesh's friends not the owners of the country, he said, "We'll solve our own the issue related to voting, courts ....a party wants to grab power through creating chaos, but we won't let that happen."

Sunamganj district Awami League adviser Siddique Ahmed, Jagannathpur upazila parishad chairman Nurul Islam, Awami League general secretary Rezaul Karim Rizu, Shantiganj upazila Awami League president Shitanshu Sekhor Dhar Setu and general secretary Hasnat Hossain were present, among others.

Later, the Planning Minister inaugurated the construction work of a road and laid the foundation stones of two bridges.
