DHAKA, Nov 26, 2023 (BSS) - Secretary General of Jatiya Party (JaPa) Md Mujibul Haque Chunnu, MP, today said that public opinion should be reflected in the 12th parliamentary elections slated for January 7, 2024.
"People of the country are looking forward to exercise their franchises. Let the opinion of the voters be reflected in the election," he said, replying to various queries of the journalists at the auditorium from the Jatiya Party Chairman's office located in the Banani area of the capital.
Regarding the role of Election Commission (EC), he said all are hoping that the upcoming general elections will be held in fair and neutral manner and EC will keep its promise to make the polls acceptable to all.
In continuation of that, EC has to take all necessary preparations, he added.
Mentioning that he does not know anything about the recent meeting between Chairman of JaPa GM Quader and JaPa Chief Patron Raushon Ershad, he said it is their family matter.
If Chief Patron Raushon Ershad, his son Saad Ershad and Dr K R Islam want to contest in polls, the party will welcome them by giving nomination forms, he said.
"We want Begum Raushon Ershad to come to the election. We will help her in all ways," he continued.
About the announcement of giving nominations in parliamentary seats for the upcoming general polls, he hoped that JaPa would declare the party-elected candidates by tomorrow afternoon.
According to a JaPa press release, the interview of nomination-seekers of Chattogram, Mymensingh and Dhaka divisions vying for the general polls was taken today.
