DHAKA, Nov 29, 2023 (BSS) - Newly appointed chairman of the board of
directors of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS) Martuza Ahmed today exchanged
views with journalists, officers and employees at its head office here.
"From its inception BSS has been contributing a lot to the field of
journalism as the national news agency and I hope it will continue its role
overcoming the challenges of the contemporary age," he told the meeting
chaired by BSS Managing Director and Chief Editor Abul Kalam Azad.
Ahmed said being the state-run news agency, BSS has huge potentials and the
agency is expected to explore the opportunities. He sought cooperation from
all in discharging his duties.
He said he was linked to journalists and journalism for more than a decade
as he previously served as the Chief Information Commissioner (CIC),
Information and Broadcasting Ministry Secretary and director of Bangladesh
Betar.
Ahmed thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for his appointment as the BSS
chairman.
The BSS Chief Editor received the chairman with a bouquet upon his arrival
at the BSS Bhaban and introduced him to different sections of the news agency
ahead of the meeting.
BSS managing editor Anisur Rahman made a brief presentation about BSS
activities.
BSS Unit chief of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ) Tareq Al Naser and deputy
unit chief Tanvir Aladin, BSS employees union president Md Mustaq Ahmed and
general secretary Md Faroque Ahmed Bhuiyan also presented bouquets to the
chairman.
BSS chief news editor (CNE) Samir Kanti Barua, CNE (Bangla service) Ruhul
Ghani Sircar Jyoti, deputy chief news editor Omar Faroque, city editor Madhusudan
Mondal, deputy chief news editor and sports desk chief Swapan Bose, City
Editor (Bangla) Kanai Chakraborty, special correspondent Anup Kumar
Khastagir, newly formed BSS board member Mahfuza Jasmine, BSS online editor
Tanzim Anwar, deputy chief reporter (Bangla) Md Sazzad Hossain, planning,
development and administration chief Mohammad Ali Khan Apu and chief accounts
and finance officer Mohammed Jasim Uddin were present, among others.
