JAMALPUR, Dec 6, 2023 (BSS) - Election Commissioner Md Alamgir today said the election commission will take all the required steps to hold a free, fair, peaceful and credible parliamentary election scheduled to be held on January 7, 2024.

"The election commission will also create a congenial atmosphere so that voters can cast their voting rights," he said.

Alamgir said while exchanging views with returning officers, assistant returning officer, law enforcers and local representatives at the conference room of the deputy commissioner here.

About infringement of the electoral code, the election commissioner said many of the candidates do not know much about it. He said if any candidate violates it frequently, no mercy should be given them.

Deputy Commissioner and District Returning Officer Md Shafiur Rahman presided over the meeting. Superintendent of Police Md Kamruzzaman and District Election Officer Mohammad Shaniazzaman Talukdar, among others, spoke at the meeting.
