DHAKA, Dec 10, 2023 (BSS) - The Election Commission (EC) today said that more than one transparent ballot box will not be allowed to be used at a polling booth at the same time.

"Transparent ballot boxes will be used for voting in the upcoming 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) elections. No other type of box can be used except these ballot boxes. And multiple ballot boxes cannot be used at the same time in any polling booth," said an EC notification.

When a box will be filled, the box should be sealed and kept in a safe place in front of all present at the polling booth and another transparent ballot box should be kept at the place of previous box following the procedure.

The transparent ballot box should be kept in a place which is within the sight of the candidates, polling agents and polling officials engaged in voting at the polling station and it should be easily accessible to the voters.

In the notification, the EC informed that there is provision for casting votes by postal ballot as per the Section 27 of the Representation of the People Order, 1972 and the Section 8 of the Voter List Act, 2009.
