DHAKA, Dec 14, 2023 (BSS) - President of Bangabandhu Parishad Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique today said BNP-Jamaat alliance and their cohorts are doing evil politics in the name of movement.
"Anti-Liberation forces are hatching conspiracy centering the upcoming general election, so all the Pro-Liberation forces will remain alert to any kind of plot," he said.
He made the remarks while addressing a discussion, organised by Bangabandhu Parishad, marking the Martyred Intellectual Day and the Great Victory Day at the National Press Club here.
Prof Arefin, also former Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU), said, "BNP-Jamaat carried out arson attacks on the buses and removed the railway tracks in the name of blockade, it is not politics."
He urged all to be united under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to resist these evil forces.
"Apart from killing mass people of the country, Pakistani occupation forces killed intellectuals from March 25 to December 14, 1971 for making the Bengali nation talentless," he added.
The cohorts of Pakistan occupational forces, including Al-Badr and Razakars, helped killing the intellectuals, he said, adding Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman rehabilitated the women, who were toured by Pakistani Army during the Independence War.
"The Indian government helped us by providing shelter, food and arms during the Liberation War," he further added.
Arefin Siddique urged all to reflect the ideology of Bangabandhu in their life and works.
He also urged countrymen to vote in favour of Awami League in order to continue the development spree of the country.
Bangabandhu Parishad General Secretary Prof ABM Faroque moderated the event while Bangabandhu Parishad presidium member Architect Yasef Osman, justice Shamsuddin Chowdhury Manik, Advocate Didaral Ali, Dr Jebunnesa and son of freedom fighter Shapkap Nizam, addressed the program.
