DHAKA, Dec 23, 2023 (BSS) - Masuma Islam, 27, got success by pickle sale online as she opted for the digital platform for selling different types of homemade pickle to be an emerging entrepreneur.
She first earned fame by selling pickle made of beef online during the COVID-19 epidemic. Last year, she got a work order for exporting ghee to Japan. In the first phase, she has exported 100 kilograms of ghee. Now, she is looking forward to exporting pickle of garlic and meat.
Masuma hoped that the pickle exporting will be increasing in future.
Though Masuma got work order from different countries including Japan, but she could not send these items abroad for capital crisis that made her hopeless.
In this situation, the Rajshahi Unnayan Bank came forward to help her and gave Taka 5 lakh loan without any collateral.
Regional manager of the bank Shahinur Islma said they gave the loan to expand her business with only four percent interest.
Masuma said she has already got certificate from the Bangladesh Standards and Training Institution (BSTI) for exporting products to Japan.
Ghee will be exported to Japan within a few days, she added.
She said she also got work order for exporting products to the United Kingdom earlier. But she could not export products for capital crisis.
Now, she has received Taka 5 lakh as loan and also got the certificate of BSTI.
Masuma lives at Koigari at Bogura city. Her husband was assistant accountant of Naz Garden hotel of the town. But the hotel was closed due to COVID-19 situation and her husband Razibul Islam lost his job.
The couple became hopeless after Razibul lost his job. In this situation, Masuma stands beside her husband and started to make different types of pickle.
But she could not run any shop for selling pickle for the pandemic. So, she started to sell her products online and got response within a few days and the order has been increasing day by day.
Her husband Razibul also stands beside Masuma and made a factory of pickle at their own house.
Masuma said in the beginning, she used to sell pickles of mango, olive, plum, garlic and chili.
But, later she started to make pickles of beef which draw huge response from the people and now she is getting order from all over the country, she added.
She said about 100 kilograms of beef pickle are being sold in every month and the price of per KG beef pickle is Taka 1000.
Besides, about 50-kg pickle of garlic and 100-kg of ghee are being sold in every month. The name of their product is RM Food Corner.
Masuma said she got a huge response from home and abroad. Even, she achieved award of successful entrepreneur from Women Entrepreneur Organization (WEO).
