DHAKA, Dec 26, 2023 (BSS)- Despite apprehension, voter turnout in the coming election will be satisfactory, AL general secretary Obaidul Quader told visiting European Union (EU) election expert team.

The meeting was held today held at AL's Dhaka district office here in Tejgaon area when both sides
discussed on different aspects of the coming general election slated for January 7.

“Overall poll atmosphere including the preparations of the election and BNP’s continuous attempt and violence to foil the elections were also discussed,” Obaidul Quader, who led Awami League in the discussion, told journalists after the meeting.

David Noel Ward led the two-member EU team in the meeting.

BNP’s is resorting to violence to destroy the peaceful atmosphere of the election, Obaidul Quader told the EU team.

About the campaign of many party leaders for independent candidates in some constituencies, AL general secretary said, “there is nothing wrong as the party has given them opportunity to contest as independent candidates.

In this regard he also made it clear that district and upazila committees have no right to expel or suspend anyone’s party membership.
