DHAKA, Dec 27, 2023 (BSS) - Police Nari Kalyan Samity (Punak) today
distributed warm clothes and financial assistance among some 250 cold hit
people including autistic children at Rajarbagh Police Lines auditorium.
Punak President Dr Tayyaba Musarrat Jahan Chowdhury distributed the winter
clothes and cash assistance as chief guest while its General Secretary Nasim
Amin, Dr Wazeb Shamsunnahar, also wife of DMP commissioner Habibur Rahman,
joint general secretary Touhida Nupur and officials of DMP were present.
"It is not possible to do something for the poor in a large scale with
personal initiative. But Punak is trying to do something organizationally.
Punak will stand by the helpless and those with special needs," Punak
President said.
She said Punak has been working with sympathy and compassion for the cold hit
people.
"We want every person of this country to be self-reliant and stand on his own
feet. We always want to stand beside the elderly and people with special
needs," Dr Tayyaba said.
She said the severity of cold has aggravated over the past few days. Helpless
people and street children are suffering from ongoing cold spell. "We are
distributing blankets and winter clothes to ease their sufferings," she
added.
Punak prepared a list by finding needy people of the area, while names of
autistic child were also included in the list.
Social Welfare unit of the organisation played a role in the overall
supervision of the warm clothe distribution programme.
