RAJSHAHI, Jan 4, 2024 (BSS)- Rajshahi Mayor and Awami League Presidium Member AHM Khairuzzaman Liton said leaders and workers of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) will play a pivotal role in building Smart Bangladesh.

 "Digital Bangladesh has already been built and time has come to build Smart Bangladesh with the prudent and farsighted leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina," he said while addressing the 76th founding anniversary celebration of Rajshahi University (RU) unit of BCL at RU campus here today as the chief guest. 

 RU BCL President Mustafizur Rahman Babu and General Secretary Asadulla-Hil-Galiv addressed the ceremony. 

 Mayor Liton urged the BCL leaders and workers to supplement Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's efforts of attaining Rupkolpa 2041 through engaging themselves in nation-building activities.

 The present government is working relentlessly for the overall development of the country. So, all the BCL members should extend their sincere support for successful implementation of those.

 Liton said the BCL played a heroic role in all the movements, including the great Liberation War and urged the present leaders and workers to continue the tradition for welfare of the nation.

 "You (BCL men) have to develop leadership characteristics among yourselves to lead the future Bangladesh competently," he reminded the BCL leaders.

 Liton also said the BCL should take the responsibility of directing the young generation on the right track instead of any misdeed and malpractice.

Earlier, the city mayor inaugurated the daylong celebration programmes through releasing balloons and festoons along with cutting a big-size cake.

 He also distributed education materials among underprivileged children and sewing machines among distressed women marking the celebration.
