Testimony in sabotage case against Rizvi, 44 others on March 5

DHAKA, Jan 4, 2024 (BSS) - A court here today set March 5 for start recording deposition of the witnesses in a sabotage case against 45 BNP leaders and activists including its senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi and Dhaka north city unit convener Amanullah Aman.

Today was fixed for recording the deposition, however, no prosecution witness turned up before the court for submitting testimony. Allowing a time plea of the prosecution, Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Tofazzal Hossain adjourned the hearing till March 5.

The court on December 4 framed charges in the case and had set today to start recording deposition of the witnesses. It also issued arrest warrant against Rizvi.

Miscreants hurled a petrol bomb on a passenger bus in Beribadh area in Mohammadpur, setting the vehicle on fire. Six to seven passengers got injured in the incident. Police filed the case with Mohammadpur Police Station the next day. Sub inspector Kamal Krishna Saha on August 23, 2016, filed charge-sheet against 45 accused.

The other significant accused in the case are- Barkat Ullah Bulu, Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, Saiful Alam Nirob and Ishaq Sarker.
