DHAKA, Jan 4, 2024 (BSS)- Anti-crime elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) in an overnight raid last night arrested nine members of two criminal gangs commonly known as 'Kabjikata Group' and 'Birani Sumon Group' in Mohammadpur here.

RAB's Legal and Media Wing Director Commander Khandaker Al Moin informed this at a press briefing at RAB's Kawran Bazar Media Centre this noon, saying that the accused were involved in mugging, robbery and different terrorist activities to foil the January 7 Jatiya Sangsad polls.
 
The arrested were identified as Hayat alias Takla Hayat, 40, Mohammad Sagor, 19, Ismail Hossain, 19, Mohammad Sumon, 45, Sumon alias Birani Sumon, 28, Mohammad Badal, 26, Mohammad Akash, 19, Mohammed Rabbi, 28 and Mohammad Rasel, 38.

The RAB also seized some local-made firearms, which were reported used in committing snatching and robbery in Mohammadpur, Adabaor, Beribad and Dhaka Udyan areas in the city.

Legal action is underway against them with the concerned police station in this connection, the RAB official added.
