DHAKA, Jan 4, 2024 (BSS) - The government has taken a project of Taka 296 crore 35 lakh and 31 thousand titled 'National Archives and National Library Digitization, Online Service Expansion and Modernization' for the establishment of digital archives and libraries.

The Department of Archives and Library under the Ministry of Cultural Affairs is implementing the project and the Bangladesh Army is acting as the executing agency, an official release said here today.

The implementation period of the project is from July, 2023 to June, 2027.

The main objective of the project is to digitize and preserve about 9 crore archival and library materials using modern equipment.

Besides, the objectives of the project are to ensure the security of digital data of National Archives and National Libraries, expand online services and increase the capacity of officials and employees of government offices related to records, the release said.
